Therapeutic Support Program Coordinator - Collins Middle School (2168) Salem Public Schools Salem is a small, diverse city with a proud maritime and immigrant history. What You'll Do: The successful candidate will be a passionate, mission-driven, and collaborative professional who can help build a stronger therapeutic support program at Collins Middle School. They will oversee a small, highly structured therapeutic learning environment which aims to provide comprehensive and proactive behavior management strategies, social/emotional skills instruction and ongoing counseling support individualized to the specific needs of its students. They will ensure that structured, consistent and systematic approaches to learning are utilized along with clear, well-defined expectations. Responsibilities: Lead a team of teachers, paraprofessionals, behavior specialists and a school adjustment counselor in the day-to-day/moment-to-moment operations of a substantially separate therapeutic support program. Ensure consistent implementation of the program schedule and routines helping to keep the learning environment highly structured. Manage daily coverage so that supervision is tight and coordinated throughout each day Hold students accountable to the defined expectations Helping to keep the team organized so that students are monitored at all times- including working directly with students in the classroom, or in other areas of the school as needed. Act as the point person for communicating between administration and program staff Help create and oversee the implementation of individualized behavior plans for students in the program. Ensure consistency of behavior plan implementation between all staff in the program, and general education teachers for students who are partially included. Consult with the building special education administration for students being considered for the program, which may include conducting observations of prospective students in their general education classroom prior to placement meetings. Consult with general education teachers working with program students. Work with the behavior analyst and team to revise safety plans as needed. Analyze behavioral data and trends and respond by making recommendations to support staff and teachers, and subtle changes to operations. Direct program paraprofessionals and help teachers create paraprofessional schedules Consult with assistant principal to determine appropriate disciplinary action when necessary Develop a long-term growth/improvement plan for the program. Job Requirements: Excellent communication skills. Displays solid understanding of human psychology and behavior analysis Must be driven and flexible enough to bring order to less structured situations. Bachelor's Degree (Required); Master's Degree in psychology or related field (Preferred) Experience with Middle School grades 5-8 and therapeutic services highly preferred Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities. Proficiency with technology (blended learning, teacher/family communication suites, Google G-Suite Apps, computer design applications, etc.) desirable.
