General Statement of Duties
The School of Social Work at Salem State University is seeking a
full-time, temporary faculty member for a one-year appointment.
After this initial year, renewal is possible, contingent upon job
performance and funding. Primary area of teaching will cover
courses at the undergraduate level beginning in September 2021.
Additional assignments will depend upon the expertise of the
candidate and programmatic needs.
Salem State University, located just 15 miles north of Boston,
is one of the largest state universities in Massachusetts and it is
an important partner in the economic, cultural and intellectual
vitality of the north-of-Boston region. Situated in the historic
and beautiful seacoast town of Salem, Massachusetts, The School of
Social Work offers both an MSW and BSW education to approximately
500 students and, was recently named one of the Top 100 Schools of
Social Work (#96) by U.S. News and World.

Duties and Responsibilities
Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the
MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, and contributions
to continuously improve the department and university. The standard
teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is
subject to available funding.
* Master's degree from a CSWE-accredited program * Minimum of
two years post-MSW practice experience * Experience with
collaboration and collegiality * Experience with teaching and
advising * Experience promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and
multicultural competence in an educational and work environment
* Earned PhD in social work or a related field * Previous
university/college teaching experience in social work at an
accredited institution at the graduate level * Experience teaching
policy * As an emerging Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), Salem
