General Statement of Duties

The Health Care and COVID Response Assistant will join Counseling & Health services to aide our response and ability to provide timely medical care and COVID response to Salem State students, in accordance with university and departmental policies and practices. Duties will focus on supporting COVID testing and vaccination, as well as assisting with contact tracing as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities:

Respond, in a timely manner, to patient questions concerning treatment, test results, medication, and condition. Gather information through questioning individuals and by examining records and documents. Assist with the confidential administration of the Counseling & Health services office by working directly with Advanced Practice RNs (APRN), Physician (MD), administrative assistants, and students. Assist with coronavirus response in coordination with health services staff including, but not limited to, screening of students for symptoms, counseling on symptoms and review of evaluation and testing options, coordination of testing on or off campus, on campus student COVID testing and oversight of on campus COVID testing sites and or vaccination clinics. Provide assistance with contact tracing investigation, monitoring of medical condition and quarantine/isolation status as appropriate, all in close coordination with Associate Director of health services, health services contact tracing liaisons, and the Salem Board of health. Assist with COVID-19 surveillance testing program. Assist with immunization review & administration, as medical licensure allows Participate in and complete additional training to aide our coronavirus response, including but not limited to, the CDC and John Hopkins contact tracing training programs.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Utilize electronic health records to accurately obtain, enter and update information Maintain and stock medical and PPE supplies in health services and at COVID testing sites. Enter data into health forms. Scan and shred documents in accordance with office policies. Assist in managing multiple excel spreadsheets to monitor COVID compliance. Assist with managing phone calls, faxes, and secure messages from students and staff. Performs other clinical and administrative job-related duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

An associate or higher degree with a major in a health care related field Work experience equivalent to at least two to three-year work experience in a medical setting, in an ambulatory medical office environment, prefer triage experience Experience using good judgement to respond to sensitive and crisis oriented situations Familiarity with HIPPAA and FERPA privacy and confidentiality requirements Experience with and utilization of motivational interviewing techniques to incorporate self-care, health promotion, disease prevention and wellness theories from a harm-reduction approach Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Zoom and Skype, and accurately entering data into Excel, Word, and patient management software systems (PointNClick) in a remote work environment

Health care provider licensure Ability to assist with vaccination clinic Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced medical office environment Understands, values, and respects diversity as an individual, in a team and within groups while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. Willing to participate in departmental anti-racism professional development Demonstrate strong interpersonal relationship skills and ability to work well as part of a team and independently Demonstrate proficient written and verbal communication skills in English
