Job Description:
The Peabody Essex Museum is one of the nation's most dynamic art
museums encompasses and operates over 500,000 square feet of
gallery and public space, including 26,000 square feet of
exhibition galleries and 55,000 square feet of galleries devoted to
collection installations and interpretation.
We are currently seeking an experienced full-time Building
Engineer. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Building
Engineer is responsible for the safe, reliable and economical
operation of the building automation systems. This work includes
monitoring, maintenance, repair, and operation of the building
automation systems and all related HVAC components. The Building
Engineer works 40 hour per week on shifts from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The qualified candidate must be available to work occasional
weekends, provide on-call coverage for plant critical alarms and
respond to off - hour emergencies as and when needed. This position
will report to the Director of Facilities and will operate with
minimal supervision.
The Building Engineer will also direct In-house HVAC/R technicians
and contractors in the installation, preventative and corrective
maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of HVAC equipment, oil
burners, both residential and commercial, low pressure commercial
steam boilers and other mechanical plant equipment and systems.
The position requires at least six to ten years of progressively
responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of building
Automation Controls, HVAC and mechanical systems. A bachelor's
degree in Facilities Management or related field, or equivalent
combination of education and work experience in the maintenance and
building operations or mechanical/electrical trade field is
required.
The ideal candidate will have Integration experience with BACNET,
MODBUS, Etc. and low voltage building sub systems; knowledge of the
construction and/or HVAC/R industry control theory, automatic
temperature controls, building automation systems and other
building subsystems and programmable logic controllers. Must be
able to interact with equipment manufacturers and vendors to order
parts, supplies and other material and coordinate activities with
other trades professionals as required.
