We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborate Automation Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll take responsibility for the successful development, implementation, validation and deployment of new laboratory processes and robotic equipment. As a key member of the Automation team, you'll have the opportunity to work with an amazing group of scientists across an array of disciplines (molecular biology, immunofluorescence, high content screening, purification, next generation sequencing, bioinformatics and IT lab systems).

You will be responsible for assisting lab users recover from errors, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, performing minor repairs, and performing preventative maintenance. In addition to the support responsibilities, development responsibilities will include requirements gathering, project scoping, proof of concept development, and working with end-users for refinement and validation testing. In this role, you will be involved in a diverse collaborations, and have the opportunity to work with multiple systems including Hamilton Stars and the Hamilton Nimbus, the Beckman I7 and I5, the Perkin Elmer Zephyr , the Formulatrix Mantis , plate readers, and more.

You'll have the opportunity to....

  • Ensure automation equipment is accurately maintained and in good working order, including stand-alone liquid handlers (Beckman, Hamilton, Perkin Elmer), plate washers/dispensers, and integrated robotic systems
  • Modify existing systems, instruments, methods and software to meet evolving needs
  • Install, maintain, QC, solve issues, build methods/scripts, and train users on instruments
  • Identify and improve hardware and/or software to improve the automation infrastructure
  • Work with CST scientists and automation vendors to evaluate, implement and validate novel systems, instruments and technologies to facilitate CST research goals
    What you bring to the team....

    • BS or MS in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science or similar field with 2+ years of experience in lab automation
    • Proficiency in both writing and optimizing scripts on automated liquid handling platforms
    • Outstanding customer service skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience with the following is preffered, but not required
      • Hamilton, Beckman and Perkin Elmer programmig experience
      • Highly energetic , self learn and driven
      • Past experience in a high throughput screening environment
